I’m also excited to announce that I’ll be picking up my first shift at a different location on Thursday, so if anyone is looking for me I’ll be rocking the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster gift shop. Luckily on Thanksgiving week I was able to give away 2 of my shifts in order to hang out with my family, and only had to call in on Thanksgiving since I was almost dying. Cast members use resources like the hub, Facebook and even posting the shifts on a bulletin board to pick up, give away and trade shifts. Luckily, I am only at one point so far and hoping to keep my record card as clean as possible.Īdditionally, if you get a shift and you don’t want to or simply cannot work it there are ways to trade or give away shifts to fellow cast members. Now that may seem harsh but Disney does run a very clean and tight ship. Three points in 30 days equals a reprimand, 6 points in 90 days and 9 points in 180 days. A point is given if you call in sick or call in personal, and a half a point is given if you are late to work. Basically, the point system states that you can get 3 points before a reprimand, and three reprimands before possible termination. However, the point system is also mildly confusing if you are an outsider. Disney is an extremely forgiving company and understands that people get sick and need some personal time. I also figured this would be a perfect time to explain the point system down here at Walt Disney World. Being sick was awful and I basically didn’t move for 36 hours, but i’d like to give a huge shout out to my wonderful mom and amazing brother for taking care of me and putting up with my illness and constant napping. However, on Thanksgiving Day I fell ill and was forced to call out from work getting my first point. It did need a monorail station to enhance logisticsbut never got one. Similarly, Disney’s Animal Kingdom arrived in 1998, all the way across the Disney campus. A reasonable argument is that Disney didn’t need to add one yet, but the company never did. I am proud to say I made it 3 months in my college program without getting sick down here in Orlando. In 1989, Disney’s Hollywood Studios opened without a new monorail station.
